Finding Balance

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

So far, the most difficult thing about becoming (and being) an entrepreneur is finding balance in life. I have a wife and 3 kids to not only support financially, but emotionally as well. All the business success in the world could not replace my family, so it's paramount that I learn how to balance my life so that I can be there emotionally for my family, while working long days/nights to be able to take the leap and build my own business full time.

There are times when I feel that I am a well oiled machine when it comes to my work. Things are going great! Then, my wife reminds me that I'm neglecting a few family responsibilities, so I shift my focus to my family. Before too long, I feel the pressures of business stack upon my shoulders and I become stressed and overwhelmed with work. Sound familiar? You're not alone. I feel this all the time -- a constant effort is required on my part to keep everything in check. And sure I become unbalanced to one side or the other, but in time I should be able to look back and see that I'm less unbalanced than I used to be.

Most of the time, I feel like I'm just spinning plates.
